Sometime I wonder if Christening dresses are a good idea. I know that a girl baby looks lovely in a long white dress but it must be really hard to change her nappy if needed. However, a boy can look silly and I think that it is perhaps an old fashioned tradition that should change. Christening gowns were started when it was acceptable for any baby to wear a dress and now boys do not wear them, it seems odd to put them in one for a Christening. I think it can be nice if the family has a Christening dress which they pass on by generation so all of the family babies have the same one on in their photos but otherwise, why not go for something more modern, I am sure there are Christening shops which have some really nice things. Perhaps I am just being a bit boring or something. I suppose having two boys I guess I am a bit closed minded about the subject, I was just worried that they would be embarrassed if they looked back at baby pictures to see one of them in a dress.
